The early days.

John and Joan Sparks founded Sparks Group (then Sparks Personnel) in 1970 serving companies and job seekers in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC.

A Staffing Agency Founded To Help Employers and Job Seekers

The year is 1970, where the average price of a gallon of gas was $0.36. While the world may have been much different then, the mission of Sparks Group, known as Sparks Personnel at the time, has stayed the same.

A Staffing Agency Founded To Help Employers and Job Seekers Leading up to the founding of the Rockville, Maryland-based placement agency, John and Joan Sparks recognized a critical need to provide local employers with administrative, data entry, and customer service professionals. Their objective was to match local talent with those businesses to fill open positions and provide people with lucrative career opportunities. Within its first year, Sparks Personnel served companies and job seekers in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C.

 

In its infancy, Sparks Personnel didn't stop at providing employment opportunities to local job seekers. The agency also offered free training to those job seekers in an attempt to help address area talent placement challenges. Some of the first positions Sparks Personnel specialized in filling were for those who supported data processing applications, known as Keypunch Operators. 

 

Filling Administrative Roles

In 1972, the company expanded its service offerings to offer administrative temporary staffing solutions to address the expanding contingent staffing market. Today, Sparks Group has placed 100,000 professionals by leveraging proactive admin staffing services to fill administrative support, clerical, and customer support positions.

Placing Security Clearance Talent

In 1972, the U.S. Department of Defense permitted Sparks Personnel to provide security clearance recruiting services to organizations needing trustworthy employees to handle highly-sensitive material. Since then, Sparks Group has placed thousands of professionals authorized for confidential, secret, and top-secret clearance work.

Security clearance recruiting remains highly competitive and requires a time-intensive and thorough vetting process, which is why Sparks Group has optimized its government staffing services for over 20 years to streamline the process to best assist organizations requiring those types of workers.
